is there a way to manage DNS without being a sysadmin?

What is a good way to manage Wifi routers remotely, with what backchannel?

  • I'm looking into managing a number of Wifi routers remotely, on the premises of generally non-involved customers. The idea would be to be able to manage these routers for the customers completely remotely, with the only requirement that the customer keeps it plugged into a broadband Internet connection. I assume this will require a back-channel, in the case that the broadband Internet connection is not providing the Wifi with DHCP/DNS automatically and the router needs to be set up with the proper permissions. Are there solutions that embed e.g. a cellular data connection so that the router can be accessed directly from the central location? How reliable is this? How would you go about setting up such a system to keep cost low and to avoid the necessity of sending around maintenance people, even for the first installation?
