What's the commission split at your Real Estate firm?

How much of home sale transaction does the real estate agent typically pocket after their real estate firm has taken their cut?

• Let's say a home sells for $1,000,000.  The 6% commission is split among the seller's agent and buyer's agent.  So that's $30,000 going to each agent.  How much do the agents personally keep, and how much do their companies keep of those respective $30K amounts?

  Every agent has a different scenario. Depending on their arrangement with their broker owner an agent can keep up to 95% of that amount with a company such as Remax, and as little as 50% among some traditional firms.  Remember, however, that the agents who receive the larger amounts are typically responsible for most of the fees associated with the listing or sale of the property.
