How to send Push Notifications from iPhone?

Are there any iPhone apps to send Push Notifications to your phone when specific users you follow tweet?

  • This is distinct from apps that send Push Notifications when you get @mentioned or Direct Messaged, and from apps that send Push Notifications when *anyone* you follow Tweets. Basically, I want to replace the Text Messages with Push Notification.

  • Answer:

    Boxcar does this and more - it will notify you of  tweets from people you follow, it will also notify you of a specific word or search term or trending topic - very useful.

You can set up Boxcar this way. Subscribe it to the RSS feeds of the tweet streams of the users you're interested in.
