Is mass marketing is still viable for profitable business?

I'm starting an internet business with the word "free" as part of the business name.  What are the cons of using "free" in terms of marketing?

  • The format of the business name will be "xxxxfreexxxx" as one word.  I'm specifically concerned about emails hitting spam folders even though mass email marketing isn't necessarily going to be our preferred method of marketing.  I'm not sure whether spam filters will pick up "free" if it's not a stand-alone word.

  • Answer:

USA corporate is offering advice on their website. It's free, can't go wrong. =P "FREE" itself is not a sign of spam, I actually run a website that offers free ringtones for users, and we do well! PS: I'm not affiliated with USA Corporate other than I used their free  consultation and was very impressed. Seriously, try it! Then you  yourself comment here on what you thought of it. Looking forward to your responses. link: http://www.usa-corporate.com/request-free-incorporation-consultation.php

It might make you more likely to trigger a filter, but that alone shouldn't do it. I'd be more worried about drawing in the wrong sort of customer. If you pull in people looking for "free" they may not be interested in actually paying for your service.
