Is A Lazy Image Loading Possible?

How can I link to an image in the answer field without the image auto-loading?

  • Links that end in .JPG, when pasted into the answer field, are automatically converted into images. Sometimes I don't want the image in the answer, like if it's NSFW or part of a footnote[1]. I've tried backspacing, since the action is triggered by hitting the spacebar, but it doesn't work. [1] See my answer to

What I'm about to say is by no means a deliberate design decision, but I hope it serves as a passable workaround until we can support something better. Judging from my experimentation, it appears that, if you prefix the URL with an underscore, the auto-loader will be fooled, but the text will still be correctly linkified after the answer is submitted: _http://http://qph.cf.quoracdn.net/main-qimg-b706a84599e4518e7246b12184a717d9 Unfortunately there's nothing you can do about the underscore right now. Sorry! This will all be sorted out when someone (probably either or I) adds support for inserting external links (similar to the way Quora-specific links can be inserted with the "@" button, perhaps). The bug has been filed.
