Answer:
Stravinsky. Rite of Spring A seminal work and the turning point for modern classical music. Rhythmically adventurous, harmonically adventurous. Stravinsky used asymmetrical rhythms, percussive dissonance, polyrhythms, polytonality, layering of ostinati and melodic fragments to create complex webs of interactive lines. Every living composer owes a debt to Stravinsky. On top of all that it's exciting, dynamic and seductive.

Van Cliburn's performance of Tchaikovsky's piano concerto #1 B flat minor opus 23. It has always been my Mom's favourite ( she was a piano major at university) and she played the LP record for us as children way back.. The grand, triumphant feel of the music is without equal - a fitting "statement" to Van Cliburn's victory in Moscow 1958! ( sadly Mr Cliburn is now battling bone cancer..) Next month (December 2012) is my mother's 92 nd birthday and my surprise gift for her will be my rendition of that piano concerto on classical guitar..Happy birthday Mom!

My mother received a jewelry box that played music as a young child; when I was little (and still on occasion), I played the music while I tried on family costume jewelry. I've tried to find the name online, but have no luck. It's known as "Love Story," for playing in the movie of the same name. Although it is said to have been written by Beethoven and is associated with him, I've found information contradicting that. I can play the melody on piano by ear, but I've always played melodies by ear. It's such a beautiful song =] If anyone could help me with the title, I'd tremendously appreciate it!
