iPhone Design: Can vibrating notifications during calls be turned off and shouldn't this be the case by default?
-
When Iâm on a call using my iPhone and I receive a text my phone vibrates in my ear (or notifications from other apps). This is distracting to the person Iâm speaking with and an extremely uncomfortable feeling in my ear. Is this an oversight in design or is there a setting I am not aware of? I know I can turn vibrating notifications off completely but the proximity sensor and the fact that Iâm talking on a phone call should be enough to not have this happen.

Answer:
You're expecting an important email or text or whatever and your mother-in-law is calling you. She starts talking about the weather and groceries and how much she hates Darwin and how much she misses Bush. She goes on like this for what seems like an eternity and meanwhile you keep wondering if you have received that email/text/whatever or not, because due to people complaining about uncomfortable feelings in their ears, the iPhone no longer vibrates when you get a notification while on an active call. Sure, you could just look at the screen every minute or so, but would you really want to miss out on what your beloved mother-in-law is telling you?
