Mobile UI Design: What is the physical size for 1024x 768px on a standard PC monitor (low pixel density) vs the physical size of an 1024 x 768 iPad screen (high pixel density)?
-
Am trying to work out the relative scaling of screen sizes - that is - an iPad screen shows the same thing in x% less area than a standard desktop screen.

Answer:
I think you want the pixel display density measurements of the iPad versus, say, a traditional 15" monitor. A comprehensive list can be found here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_displays_by_pixel_density The iPad has 132 ppi, whereas way down the list, a 15" monitor w/ a 1024x768 pixel display has 85 ppi. So the iPad is ~1.5x more dense pixels-wise.
