Her own genius lies in visualisation and humour. One can learn the tools of visualisation but to place those ideas as she illustrates into a broader context takes life experience, a keen eye and regular outletting of the outcomes of the process of creation. I may sound discouraging but that cannot be taught beyond saying "live consciously, observe, compare, contrast, contextualise, discard, accept, modify, visualise, draw, present it to scrutiny, sharpen your process." From having followed her work for years, there is one thing stands out: every visual focuses on just one idea. This is very hard to do, as the temptation to layer on, slather on more and more is human. To edit down, to pare down however is a rare skill and Jessica has it.
