When does Argentina celebrate its independence?

Why does America celebrate Independence Day on July 4th?

  • July 2nd was the date that the 2nd Continental Congress approved the Lee Resolution of independence (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lee_Resolution) July 4th was the date they formally announced the action by approving the text of the . Technically, which date would establish our independence (or perhaps, when is our country's real birthday), the day we resolved to be independent, or the day we declare it to the world? (I'm leaving out the Battle of Yorktown and the Treaty of Paris because those dates are so far away, they're pretty much out of the question)

  • Answer:

4th of July [aka Independence Day] is the national day of the United States. Also a federal holiday. Adoption of the Declaration of Independence on July 4, 1776.

Why are Americans celebrating July 4th, rather than celebrating it as an independence day. Though it is their choice, is this choice because to cover up the embarrassment that a country so powerful now was under slavery long ago? No one is covering up everything. The average American citizen understands that at one point in our nation's history that slavery existed until the Civil War. We celebrate July 4th because that is the American Independence Day. That is the day the http://www.archives.gov/exhibits/charters/declaration_transcript.htmlwas made visible to the world. The Founders gave the metaphoric gave the British the middle finger.

It is celebrated as Independence Day, so it's unclear what you mean.

That past is dead.  It happened.  Slavery has been illegal in this nation since 1865.  I seriously doubt that many Americans are embarrassed or ashamed about something  that is -long- past (150 years past)  and that none of them were responsible for.  July 4 is still Independence Day and some people take that remembrance seriously.    It took 620,000 dead Americans  and 1.5 million Americans seriously maimed and wounded to get rid of slavery,  but it was gotten rid of.  The sin of slavery was paid  for   in Blood.

There are many more pictures to it. According to the John Adams, who was the second president of America and a prominent leader who play significant role in the legal separation of the Thirteen Colonies from Great Britain, had confounding perception and theory regarding the dates of America’s Independence Day. The letter written by him proves it. I think you have your answer. July 4th was the day that we officially declared that we are no longer dependent upon aid and governance from another nation. This act symbolizes the birth of our nation. Until independence was announced we basically were just still in the planning stages. That day was the day we took action and became a nation.

July 4th is when delegates of the thirteen colonies in North America signed and published the Declaration of Independence, a document sent to King George III of Britain declaring the independence of the colonies from Britain. The United States was formed, and the Articles of Confederation was written during the following war. The Constitution was written after the war, and the US Constitution still is used today. July 4th is that day in 1776 when the Declaration of Independence was signed. The United States' true independence arguably didn't come until after the war.

It is the day that the construction of the Erie Canal began in Rome, New York.   And oh yeah, it's the United States' Independence Day.
