How do employers evaluate a job candidate?

• What are the factors that impact the way you evaluate a candidate? What are you looking at in the resume? When you Google her name?  His Twitter feed? What would increase the candidate chances? What will decrease? What will make her stand out?

  There are a variety of things many people look at: Where the candidate worked previously. Employers take a tip from past employers here. "If a candidate was good enough to get hired at Google or McKinsey, they must be good enough for us." Where the candidate went to school. Similar to where they worked previously, this serves as a credential and potential indicator of candidate quality. Previous accomplishments, especially where quantitative and/or verifiable. For example, "Created ad campaign that won industry award" or "Led division that grew sales from $14mm to $42mm during my three-year tenure" Writing style. Does the candidate communicate succinctly and professionally. There are a lot of other things here and increasingly one's social media presence plays a role.
