How does the iPod Touch Nike+ GPS app work?

  • Answer:

Assuming you have Nike+ enabled shoes and have purchased the sensor (which costs about $25), it's fairly easy. I should note that you'll need to create an account on Nike's website if you'd like to upload your progress reports to their website. Once you've put the sensor in your shoe, open the application on your iPod/iPhone. If I remember correctly, it asks you questions about your weight, height, etc... so it can more accurately calculate how many calories you burn. Now select a workout (Basic, Time, Distance, or Calorie), choose what music from your iPod/iPhone you want to listen to during your run/walk (or select 'None'), then walk around to activate the sensor. Once it's synced, you be instructed to start your workout. Press the play button and begin running/walking. The first time you use it, I recommend going on a track or tredmill so that you can calibrate your stride to ensure accuracy. Hope this helps! Also, if you're an avid runner and happen to have an iPhone, I highly recommend getting the more advanced version with GPS tracking. It's usually a few dollars, but it's free for a limited amount of time (as of 5-23-11). This app can be found here: http://itunes.apple.com/us/app/nike-gps/id387771637?mt=8
