Multiple domains for similar content?

If several domains point to the same content, which one is used for Googles SERP?

  • It is better to have a keyword rich domain name, but which domain name does Google select for the ranking of the site?

  • Answer:

This can actually leed to a ton of problems with Google viewing those domains as duplicate content. What you need to do is pick a main domain and then 301 redirect the rest of the urls. Do not use a 302 redirect because that means the move is temporary..use a 301 which tells Google the move is permanent.

Other answers

As all other things are equal, the domain chosen will be based on the keywords in the domain and the quality and number of backlinks it has.   Having multiple domains can have its issues. You may end up splitting the backlinks to your website over all the domains and resulting in several mediocre ranked domains instead of one highly ranked one.
