Why does Google Chrome load very slow at loading pages?

When loading the same page in google chrome its almost 5 times slower then other browsers like Firefox, IE or Opera. How to solve or is this the way Chrome works now? I have old PC with 800 Mhz and 256 MB RAM. I have XP SP3.

Chrome is a RAM hog and I do not recommend it for old computers like yours. You're better off with Firefox to be honest. Which Chrome's RAM habits is a blessing on newer computers with more RAM because it utilizes RAM that is normally sitting idle to sandbox tabs, precache pages, and keep tabs active. If you must absolutely, positively use Chrome, try going into Settings on the upper right hand menu under the minimize, resize, and close buttons. Then Show advanced settings, and uncheck Predict network actions to improve page load performance. You can close out. This will make it so Chrome won't use as much RAM, but it will still use more than Firefox. IMHO upgrade that PC as soon as your finances allow. It's high time to let her go.
