How to start an Internet Company in India?

I want to start my own internet company. How do I go about it?

  • Background: I started my career as an engineer (developer) and have moved to product management. I work in the internet industry, in a fairly well paid job. Have been thinking about starting my own company, although don't have a solid idea yet. I'm giving myself till the end of this year to have a go at it. How and where do I start ? (I'm in India)

  • Answer:

    1. 'Get Idea'. Beg, borrow or steal if you have to. The simplest way to have an idea that you would enjoy working on is one which solves a problem you have experienced. For ex.- If you think wooden pencils suck, make nylon pencils, chances are, you will not be the only one looking for a replacement. Don't look for validation in the idea stage. 2. Build a team. A great team. Doing it alone is not a good idea for most people. Get co-founders who are equally passionate about your product, and complement your skills. 3. Build the product. The MVP ( minimum viable product ). And Keep It Simple Silly ( KISS approach ). 4. Get beta testers to review it. Listen to feedback. Improve your product. Iterate. 5. Ship. When you think the product is ready, ship. 6. Create traction. Tell tech blogs about your product. Tell anybody/everybody about your product. Hustle. 7. Keep on iterating and shipping.
