How to share a large folder of files with someone without them having to join any new service?
-
I want to send a friend a collection of .doc files, pictures and music files as part of a project. I need the download speed for the recipient to be fast, (and thus would prefer not to host it myself), and I don't want them to have to join any new service, (Dropbox, for example, requires both parties to be members in order to share whole folders). Preferably they should also be able to download the whole folder at once รข but that's not a major issue. Am asking too much or is there a service which already exists but I am unaware of? Thanks very much to anyone who's able to answer this

Answer:
Best options Zip folder and upload to MediaFire. Share link. Zip folder and upload to Dropbox "public" folder, right click for link. Share.

Hello, I'd like to suggest you give http://doctape.com a try. It's stores different filetypes securely and converts all of them on the fly into a 'web ready' format. You can share privately with doctape users (non users you share with get an automatic invite) or publicly via shortened link. Here is an Example of a shared video): To see it live use this link: http://dt.pe/B1nTCv By they way: Publicly shared files can be made private again at any time in realtime. Side note: I am one of the co-founders of http://doctape.com so sorry for this shameless plug.

ShareFile by Citrix (http://www.sharefile.com) let's you send files and folders to nonusers. Just upload the folder in the web interface and then you can email the person a link where they can download it from. The Send page lets you specify whether they need to login or not, so just leave that unchecked and you'll be good to go. Download speeds are fast, and they can download the folder all at once too.

With Dropdock ( http://getdropdock.com ) you can send files to anyone, dropdock user or not wether they are online or not.

I think you can use BitTorrent to share your own files in "tracker-less" mode without either party having to sign up for anything. Here's an old LifeHacker article: http://lifehacker.com/5534190/how-to-share-your-own-files-using-bittorrent
