When using Harvard Referencing?

How should a Quora question/answer be referenced using the Harvard referencing citation style?

  • For a reference paper. This question forms part of a series of questions: http://quora-dissertation.blogspot.com/.

  • Answer:

Surprisingly easy, since all Quora answers have human-readable stable URL's (Good work ) Elements of the Citation Author/editor Year of document (created or revised), Title of document - italicised, Name of the sponsor of the source, date of viewing (date month year), <URL>. Examples In Text Citation asked a question to the Quora community on proper citation styles <> 's personal account of Silicon Valley after the collapse of the market in 2000 is an excellent primary source. < Reference List: (Based on the idea that each question is it's own webpage) Smith, J. 2011, How should a Quora question/answer be referenced using the Harvard style citation system (2011) Quora, viewed 20 April, 2011, < No 1: (This is a guess based on the idea that each answer is a separate work. I'm also referenceing Quora's own auto-link verbage IE ) Johnson, A. 2011, Answer to What was Silicon Valley like after the bubble burst in the early 2000s? (2011) Quora, viewed 20 April 2011,< No 2: (Another guess based on the idea that this answer is a part of a compilation of answers in response to a question, like a conference proceeding) Johnson, A, 2011, 'Answer to What was Silicon Valley like after the bubble burst in the early 2000s?' in What was Silicon Valley like after the bubble burst in the early 2000s?, Quora,  viewed 20 April, 2011, < I'm going to add a caution here, that this is only my best guess and assumption. Citation systems really have not evolved to deal with the sort of discussion that goes on on an online forum like Quora, however Quora's architecture allows me to make certain assumptions, like that Antone Johnson's answer is it's own separate work, or that it's part of a compilation. I would choose the simpler citation style (no 1).
