I hate my job now what should I do?

What's worse: a job that I hate but gives me free time, or a job that I like but has less free time?

• So I have a dead-end job for which I hate the work.  However, the hours are great, I make more than the average bear (though not great), and with a wife, newborn, and several side projects I really value the free time it allots me. However I hate the work and hate the fact that I am working towards nothing.  My ultimate goal is to run my own business (side projects mentioned above), but it is not going as quickly as I would have hoped.  My hesitation to leave is the battle that time with my family is more important that the work I do.  At the same time, I don't want to be a zombie at home thinking about my job.  Maybe by getting another job I'll make some connections and/or learn some new things that might get me to the next level. Should I: A) Stick with it and keep working on side projects until I can make my full-time gig? B) Find something else that will leave much less time with Family and for side projects? C) Other? Interested in thoughts or suggestions...

Your family will understand and you will be happier working a job you love versus one you hate. Above is a quote I reference whenever I am looking at potential jobs. There is not a clear answer as everyone is in a different situation. Talk with your family and do some soul searching in order to find out what works best for you and your family. I believe if you search you will be able to find a job you love with free time in order to spend time with family and allow you to do side projects all with keeping your aspirations of owning your own business.
