How The Earth Was Made?

How many earth-sized planets could be made from all the bodies in the solar system which are smaller than Earth?

  • Presuming humanity had the power to move small planets and terraform them, how many 1-g planets could we make for ourselves here?

  • Answer:

It is estimated that the total mass of the asteroid belt is 3x10^21 kilo which is about 4% of the mass of the moon, Even if you assume that all the other asteroids in the solar system total up to 10 times this figure then you could still only make half a moon. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Asteroid_belt#Characteristics If you want to include Mercury, Venus, Mars and Pluto with their moons and the moons of the gas giants then you should be able to create slightly more than one Earth sized planet. Venus is almost as heavy as the Earth, all the other moons and planets just top VenusĀ  up. http://www.wolframalpha.com/input/?i=the+total+mass+of+the+moons+in+the+solar+system+in+kg
