How to determine the shortest path?

Why does Transmit keep giving the error "Could not determine current path"?

  • I'm using Transmit for Mac and I cannot connect to my Hostgator server, it keeps giving the error "Could not determine current path.". Other apps such as Espresso can connect though.

  • Answer:

(Assuming you are connecting to an FTP server...) If I had to guess, I'd say the server is rejecting or not correctly responding to the PWD command.  Look at the Transcript for possible clues. Failing that, please send an email to and our support team will try to get to the bottom of it!

Problem is not in Transmit, since Cyberduck or other alternatives returns similar errors. For me solution was contacting my server provider and they came back with different port number through which I can connect normaly.

HI I've had this problem for a while - Panic looked into it closely, but couldn't find a solution. For me it was resolved on some servers by using sftp - but some hosting providers don't seem to play too nicely with it. What I can tell you is that if you download version 3.7 of Transmit you'll probably find that you don't have the problem. Weird, but true You can get it here. http://download.panic.com/
