What are better alternatives than advertising with Google Adwords?

Apart from Google Adwords, which advertising networks are taken into account in the paid keywords as traffic source on Google Analytics?

  • Bing Adcenter, yahoo advertising, Baidu...? I'm wondering if there is an official list of those sources taken into account by default (i.e no need to use campaign tagging)

    It depends on how you're tagging destination URL's from the other ad networks.  I've found that anything tagged with medium as "cpc" shows up in the Default "Paid Search" segment in Google Analytics.  note: If you enable auto-tagging in AdWords, those visitsare auto-tagged as "cpc". For example, I have campaigns running in adCenter and AdWords and visits from both show up in the default"Paid Search" segment because I'm using utm_medium=cpc for the adCenter campaigns.

They're not taken into account by default, you have to tag them with utm_ parameters ... or at least use a campaign ID, do a little rework on the landing page using PHP (et al.) and convert said ID into utm parameters. Then use the querystring hash (_setAllowAnchor) trick to capture the campaign.
