Which ad agency currently has the AT&T account?

What are the guiding principles for Ad Agency Account Execs in managing the relationship and actions for their client and their agency?

  • In the not-so-new world of project-based advertising accounts, it seems Ad Agency Account Execs fear pushing back or promoting thought from their agency. What are the guiding principles account execs should live by in regards to managing the relationship between their client(s) and their agency?

  • Answer:

Some tips that worked for me. 1 - Keep the client informed about the smallest thing being done at the agency for his account 2 - document it - try to keep the important discussion part documented 3 - discuss JSR with the client every Monday preferably start of the day. Send a mail and discuss over the phone however meeting would be ideal. 4-never hesitate to ask questions to the client even if it is the simplest one. Or rather the most stupidest one. It clarifies a big deal. 5-meet the client more often. Face to face discussions always work 6-don't just talk about work. After all he is a human being too. Build a rapport and you will understand the gravity of the situation even better for the jobs that are briefed to you. 7-avoid saying no in the first response. attempt once if it doesn't work out they are pacified. But then you still win the confidence if u still get the work done through some other solution that you recommended. 8-all the brief documents should be ratified with the client before you brief your team about that job. 9-always keep buffer in deadlines given to the creative team and that to the client. 10-try to be sync with marketing objective of the company than the clients ego. You will always succeed in giving better work than usual. 11- never work like a postman you will get screwed from both ends and possibly you will get extinct from this whole advertising community 12-use common sense always.. And always learn from your past goof ups. Else you will waste lot of time proving once you get sterotyped as something. Well that's it for now. Will add some points later if I think I may have missed out something.
