Does Apple promote MP4 video to companies still using Flash?

  • The iOS ecosystem becomes more attractive as Flash is replaced with mp4 video and HTML5 widgets. Do Apple actively engage with companies which have streaming video on their sites in only Flash format? Is there any transition support or incentives for these companies to invest in delivering mp4 video?

  • Answer:

    I do not think Apple engages those companies at all. The incentive for those companies is intrinsic in the fact that they lose a lot of audience if they support neither mp4 or HTTP Live Streaming. The pressure is very high for connections coming from iOS devices and somewhat smaller for connections coming from OsX. But I know there are people that use OsX and do not have Flash installed. And there is a lot of people (including me) that do have Flash but it's blocked and they very rarely use it (thanks to click to plugin).
