How to avoid sun tan?

If you spend just enough time in the sun so that you don't get sunburned, how much time should you wait before going in the sun again, if the goal is to avoid a sunburn?

  • So if I go out in the sun in the morning and spend enough time so that I get tanned but not so much time that I get burned, how much time do I need to wait before going out in the sun and getting an equivalent amount of sun exposure later on?

  • Answer:

I would recommend sunscreen for any time you are in the sun for a prolonged period of time. Sunscreen is great because it prevents sunburns, but also skin cancer and wrinkles. If you want to be in the sun to get tan or if you have to work outdoors, I recommend wearing a hat long sleeves, wearing sunscreen and drinking plenty of water. If you can get some shade under an umbrella or tree, I highly recommend it! You can be in the sun safely every day, as long as you are diligent with sunscreen applications and also take some time to hydrate and stay in the shade for a while.
