Would the Facebook commenting platform encourage more comments in a blog?
-
I have two options on selecting a commenting platform for my new blog; Disqus or Facebook. As I see it, commenting using Facebook is really straight-forward since everyone's pretty much logged into Facebook all the time. It's a matter of typing the comment out and hitting enter. Disqus on the other hand supports most social media logins but has the disadvantage of having to give the Disqus app permission if the user is a first timer on the platform--hence more hassle. On the other hand Disqus encourages people who go by pseudonyms to not reveal their real identity, whereas Facebook naturally makes you use your personal account. How do you see the trade-off between efficiency and online identity when it comes to encouraging commenting in a small blog? Which would result in more people willing to comment?

Answer:
here is one Quora question about similar topic which the famous tech blog has tried. As TechCrunch has pointed out somewhere in all of those arguments that Facebook comment allows the blog to reduce spams and trolling comments, which basically lead to better conversations between their readers. Facebook comment system lets people comment easily with their existing accounts and at the same time, a chance to publish it to their news feed as well. User can choose to not publish their comments, which is great. Basically, it may bring a lot traffic to your blog if you use Facebook comment system and the readers turn on their feed-publishing feature. Disqus, however, offers much more choices to comment using Google & Yahoo! IDs and readers can comment anonymously as well (with only an email to find out who they are). It's actually easier/faster with Disqus. I remember not so long ago when Facebook launched the comment system, Disqus CEO publicly said that he's not afraid at all. Facebook comment system is not a threat to Disqus. I believe it's true.
