How family shapes our identity?

What are some generative logo designs (i.e logos that use an algorithm to provide different shapes as a visual identity)?

  • The Media Lab visual identity has been created in 2011. It is not a simple logo but a matrix to randomly create more than 4000 possible shapes based on a same pattern, one for each person inside the Lab. http://www.rt80.net/medialab/ Another pretty similar expeirment is the Casa Da Musica (Portugal). The logo by Sagmeister Inc provides different shapes based on a same logic to express every different kind of music that could be played inside the building http://www.sagmeister.com/node/192 I am wondering if there is any other examples of logo or visual identity that are based on algorithms.

  • Answer:

The identity for Swisscom is dynamic, I forget what metrics affect its shape but you can read up on it in the brief, designed by Moving Brands (http://www.movingbrands.com/?category_name=swisscom-work#img16) See it in action: http://www.swisscom.ch/en/residential.html

I worked with a guy originally from Tomato, and he and I discussed this quite a bit for a project we were working on together. He told me about a couple of projects they did back in 2002: tv asahi http://www.tomato.co.uk/2002 and one for Sony called Connected Identity (which I couldn't find any vids for): http://markguglielmetti-echo.blogspot.com/
