Can I completely "close off" my subs?

Can you collect unemployment compensation as a owner of a subs s corp in pa, when you had to close the company for health reasons?

  • Answer:

I doubt it. Missing work might be good cause if you intended to go back after healing. But liquidating and retiring is not intending to go back to work. Health reasons has no relevance because you received a benefit by closing. UE is not meant to replace health and casualty insurance or business liability insurance. I doubt if even workman's comp would step in for only a natural decline in health.

Only if you paid unemployment insurance for yourself as well as your employees but the way Obama is going who knows so try at least as you have nothing to lose here
