Have you worked for Harrods before?

What would look better on my C.V - 6 weeks at Kurt geiger in Harrods - Or Alfred Dunhill in mayfair?

  • I have been offered both job - So now need to decide. Kurt Geiger - in Harrods - £6.10 ph - 6 weeks(over the sales) - with the option of if they like you, and you do well - your contract will be changed to permanent and will be raised to £7.50 - £9.00, and then you also receive harrods discount :) OR Alfred Dunhill - Bourdon House - Mayfair ( very high end luxury menswear & accessories ) £7.50 ph - 1 month - With the possibility of extending. I have no idea which one to choose - because, £6.10 is an appalling wage, but it could only be for 6 weeks? And I love the idea of working in harrods! Alfred Dunhill - pay is good - but I wouldn't enjoy it as much - But does it look good on my C.V? So which one would look best on my C.V? Which one shall I choose? Thank you so much, i am so stuck! x

  • Answer:

Makes no difference they are both high end Retailers. I was in Harrods a couple of months ago. Most of the staff were Polish and they were robotic. I found them overly polite and fawning over the customers, made me feel a bit uncomfortable, but the Russians and Arabs loved it. UK

Mnimum wage is £6.08, so 'appalling' is a bit OTT! Alfred Dunhill is fab - go with them.

Personally from what you say I'd go with the Harrods option. As for how either would look on your CV I dont really think that is an issue. Most important thing is that you have employment on the CV not where it is.
