    html is just the beginning , if you want to learn to create a website like Facebook you will have to know a server-side language like php. And to answer the question that how long it takes to make a website? it really depends how big the website is. You also have to take into account if there is going to be a lot of programming to do like php or JavaScript this languages may take you a while to code up even when you are a expert on them. But if you really enjoy designing web pages you should go ahead and learn first html and css. After you have master this you should then move to learn JavaScript and php.
