Connect laptop to TV through Comcast cable box with HDMI?
-
I'm trying to connect my laptop to my TV but my TV only has an s-video outlet. the laptop has an HDMI and so does my cable box. is there anyway to watch stuff through my laptop on to the TV though the cable box?????

Answer:
No, the cable box has no HDMI input, only outputs. Also, HDMI is digital and S-video is analog, so there's no way to connect the two without an expensive active converter. But does the laptop have a VGA output? That's analog, so you could use a cheap VGA to S-video or VGA to component adapter cable. You'd have to rig sound separately from the laptop's headphone jack.

You might as well try to hook your refrigerator to your air conditioner. Cable box hdmi ports are outputs, not inputs.
