How do I fine tune my LG TV?

Cant connect indoor aerial to LG 42LW450U 42" 3D LED BACKLIT TV?

  • hi i have a LG 42LW450U 42" 3D LED BACKLIT TV which i purchased 5 month ago. I normally watch my tv through a sky box which is connected to my main aerial outside. My sky box is now broke and their fore i cant watch any tv because i have no main aerial wires in my room to watch freeview which is built into my tv. I went and bought a One for all amplified indoor aerial so that i could tune into my tv to view my freeview but i can not connect for some reason. the tv says i have no aerial connected but i do and even have it above my tv and next to the window. Can anybody help me with how to connect it please thanks.

You will be lucky if an indoor aerial will work OK; most people need an outdoor aerial for digital reception. An amplifier will not help, either. You do not say why you cannot connect to your outside aerial, as before. http://www.aerialsandtv.com/aerials.html http://www.satcure.co.uk/tech/terindex.htm

You are wasting your time with an indoor aerial for DIgital TV. (I argue it is against the Trades description and Sale of goods act to sell them for that purpose - take it back and get a refund) You need an outside aerial with a clear line of sight to the TV transmitter, no big reflections - Digital is sensitive to them - as you are finding with an indoor one. And with no picture to watch, how can you get it to a better position ?? As for the sky box, just go on ebay and get a second hand one/ one that no one needs any more - and re-sync your card to it (one short phone call, and usually 10 mins later all done )

You have to go to the set up menu and change the tv input to ariel antenna. You might not get that many tv stations, due to most tv stations have switch to cable or disc network to provide the service for a fee. You have to check your local are and see what tv stations are still broadcasting over the air waves. Hope this will help you out.

Your Sky box is not connected to your "main aerial". It must be connected to the LNB in a satellite dish or it won't work. The Sky box is connected to the television set through a SCART socket, this is the oblong multi-pin plug. A conventional indoor aerial will plug into the aerial socket on the television set. Make sure that your are putting the plug into the correct socket on the tv. The instruction book, which you should still have, will have a diagram to show you which socket this is. All television sets and terrestrial aerial leads use the same type of plug and socket so if you have the right one it will fit perfectly. When you have the aerial plugged in make sure that it has batteries and the amplifier bit is turned on. Switch the tv away from the AV socket that it used for the Sky box input and then make it auto scan to tune in the Freeview channels. You will have to move the aerial around to find the best reception position.
