How do i start a dog walking business?

  • I'm only 14 and i want to make a little cash this summer instead of doing nothing, but I'm kinda scared about talking to people and starting it, getting people to know, and how much to charge? I'm a total dog-lover though so that part is easy for me.

    Call your local AKC (American Kennel Club branch and ask what the going rate is. Also, consider gardening; in this economy, you might make a bunch with tomatoes and cucumbers.

Make fliers and post them in your local stores. or have your mom/dad ask people she/he works with. Also put fliers in the flag on the mailbox (Never inside. That's rude and illegal) around your neighborhood :) Good luck!

Ahaha, I'm 14 too! I know how it feels but my grandma talks to my neighbours about me being able to walk their dogs for them so I have a summer job! You could post up posters about it in the gas station, super market, school bulletin, local animal shelter, dog park, etc. I'm going to charge $3 per walk. I'd say don't charge over $5 per walk. :) Good luck!
