Any way to treat aortic stenosis besides valve replacement surgery?

Is it okay to use Ventolin and nitroglycerin pump to relieve symptoms of aortic valve stenosis?

• My father has an aortic valve stenosis due to calcium and a dilatation of the auricle (29 cm2). He did not have any symptoms until recently (past 4 weeks) when he started to have nightmares, dizziness, feeling of suffocating, shortness of breath and fatigue following any activity. He has been using a sublingual nitroglycerin pump, which makes him feel better, and recently started to use Ventolin to treat the suffocation symptoms. My question is: is it okay to use those medicines, or could they make his case worst, giving the fact that some of his symptoms are listed in the side effects of Ventolin? What would you suggest beside surgery (he doesn't have access to it)? Thanks for your help!

  No, it's not. The venolin may make him feel better, but it doesn't help the problem. The nitro can be down right dangerous. In a patient with significant aortic stenosis, nitro can bottom out the BP. Since surgery is apparently not an option, his doc show figure out the best possible medical regimen.
