My passport is expired but can I take it to get my permit test? I will be taking my permit test in 2 weeks when I turn 16 but I have everything ready for the points but the passport. I have my school id with report card and my social but my passport is expired so will that be a problem? It expired last in July of 2011. So can I still bring it even though it's expired. Thanks btw I live in NY if it matters.

Answer:
Not everyone owns a passport. Your social security card and birth certificate should be sufficient.

You need valid ID. An expired passport is not valid ID. From the NY DMV: If you do not have 6 points of proof of identity, your parent or your legal guardian can complete form MV-45 at a DMV office and show proof of identity.
