What time should you arrive to prom?

  • I booked a limo to take us to prom, and prom starts at 6 but I booked it for 6 so we wouldn't be there til 6.30 - 45. I can still change it though if this is too late. There is food and stuff at prom and I am not sure what time it would be. Do you think we should arrive earlier for that and photos and stuff? I really don't know because this is my first prom. So what time should I arrive at prom? Thanks :)

    You don't want to be the first group there, but you don't want to be the last either. Dinner doesn't usually start for a while after prom starts, 625-630 is fine. Book it for 20 min earlier so that when you get there you aren't standing in line for pictures for all eternity. Hope this helps(:

No, I think 6:30 is a good time to arrive. I remember our prom started at 8, and we finished dinner by 7:45, so we were the first group there and it was AWK. There were a few other groups, the room was too small, and the teachers/supervisors were just sitting in chairs talking. Honestly, it didn't feel like a dance, because our theme was red carpet, and our junior class did an awful job decorating it. But when more people arrived at 9, it was fun because the dance floor got crowded and the DJ started playing good music.

You should aim to arrive just before 6. I got to my prom at about 6.45 (It started at 7) but I was on the prom committee so I turned up early to see how the room looked. Everyone arrived for 7 and then we had some pictures taken outside before having our actual pictures taken inside. It's best to get there for the start as you don't want to miss any of it.
