Should I connect my powered speaker to JUST the "right" of the rca output and not the "left"?

My mixer only has one rca output and I want to connect both my powered Mackie speakers. The guy at Guitar Center said I can connect one Mackie to just the left rca output and the second Mackie to just the right rca output. Does this make the quality of the audio signal decrease that is sent to both speakers? Or, should I buy a rca Y-cable splitter and split both the right and left rca outputs. Then, I would be able to connect each Mackie speaker to BOTH the right AND left rca output. Does it make a difference which way I connect the powered speakers to the output? I ask because I want the best quality signal sent to both powered speakers! Thanks!

I agree with Juan, "..". Connecting both RCA outputs to each speaker defeats stereo and makes it mono... for awhile until you blow the output devices in the RCA output. Don't connect left and right outputs with a Y-cable, one output will be driving the other and they will destroy each other. If you want to sum the left and right channel to get mono you have to go through a summing amplifier. There are applications for mono but you don't need to connect left and right to do it. Your mixer should have a mono option. Adding additional outputs connected to the inputs of your powered speakers do not accomplish anything. Just connect the right output to one speaker and the left output to one speaker just like the guy at Guitar Center told you. If you want mono just select mono on your mixer. mk
