How can I become a good musical theatre singer in one year?

• I really want to be in the school musical, but the problem is... I'm not a very good singer (I'm not horrible, but I'm not good enough to be cast yet either). I've given myself plenty of time to get ready, so if you have any tips that will help me become a better musical theatre singer, I would really appreciate it. Please note: I cannot afford singing lessons.

  who need some singing lessons if you can sing all the way you want all day? when you're going to practice your voice, try some songs that really hard to sing by you, practice it every day (every day, not every time or you lost your voice) maybe that's all the advice i can give to you, good luck!!
