Using a toshiba tecra(displayport), can i connect to my hdmi tv? my laptop has no hdmi port but has this display port, what do i need to do to watch movies on my tv? i heard there's an adapter something.. so i looked it up, and most of em were saying 'mini display port'? what's mini? are there two different kinds? the socket for my display port on laptop doesnt look small.. also, are there settings that need to be done on the tv too? i had tried with vga once but failed.. the tv just wont read the signal and the PC option remained greyed out. im using a year old samsung but supports hdmi.

Mini DP and the DP is the same, but the mini one is smaller in size. To connect your laptop to your hdtv, you need an display port to hdmi cable. To do that, you must buy the cable. If your laptop support HDMI output, then you could use HDMI cable. If only display port ( or mini DP ), you need to buy what I said before, or buy an adapter.
