How impractical is a major in anthropology?

I want to major in Anthropology how can I go about this if I have to start in a technical school first?

• I went to high school thinking the whole time I wanted to go to cosmetology school and that was it. I took all the courses I needed to go to cosmetology school and only graduated with a technical prep degree which would have helped me for the field I wanted but nothing else. I haven't been able to get my father to cosign for a loan so it's been several years since high school and I still have yet to start school. As i'm thinking of starting school without the help of my father I am realizing that I may have grown out of the idea of being a hairstylist and am starting to want something more than that. So i've been looking into several majors and interesting courses that have fascinated me for awhile now and Anthropology is one of them. I have no idea where to start considering I haven't taken the SAT or the ACT yet and I know I will have to start in a technical college. What courses should I take at a technical college so I can eventually move on to a non technical college so I can go into a different career/major that I want to? I am completely lost as to what my steps are to reach my goal please help me.

  You can change your major anytime you want! You can also start out by just taking your basics, and not having a major until you get to your desired school. Also, you can pick a major that is similar to Anthropology or that would be helpful in your desired career, and see if the school you wish to go to afterwards has transfer majors for that school.
