first EMT job interview with Americare ambulance in LA!! HELPPP!!!!!! Hi everyone, I recently started applying to ambulance companies here in Orange County not really expecting to hear back from anyone because im only 18. Well yesterday i got a call from Americare ambulance service asking me to come in for an interview June 6. Im super nervous!! This is my first job interview EVER!! so i have a few questions. 1. They told me to wear a short sleeve shirt which i thought was strange so i have no idea what to wear any ideas?? 2. I was hoping to work in the orange county area but the address they gave me to come up to interview is in Carson which is their LA location. Does this mean that im going to work out of there if i get picked up by them? 3. What should i expect when i get there? tests? 4. does anyone know what kind of questions they ask during the interview? there are probably a bunch of other questions i cant think of now so ill throw them in as they come to me hahaha THANK YOU!!!

Answer:
It does not hurt to overdress for an interview but it can hurt to underdress. Get a short sleeved white or pastel shirt from goodwill and wear a tie. Carson may be the headquarters and Human Resources department. Tell them you are eager to work, never late or absent and you want to prove your abilities real bad. Do not ask about benefits or pay at your first interview unless they tell you you are going to be hired. There is a lot of turnover in EMT work so they need to find good employees just as you want to find a good job. Every interviewer has a different method, so I can't help you with what they will ask. If you want to impress him, find out as much about Americare as you can - locations, etc.

I'm guessing the short sleeve request is to see if you have any visible tattoos. A lot of people will wear long sleeve shirts to an interview to hide the tattoos. I would find a dress shirt that is short-sleeves. Preferably solid color. 2. It's possible, but it's also possible the hiring manager is based out of the LA location. 3. I would say they would give you an interview and possibly a 2nd interview. Then if they like you, they may send you to get a drug test and a physical. 4. Probably customer service experience, previous experience, etc.

1. Wear a short sleeved shirt if that's what they told you to do. it's probably because you'll be doing a lift test. 2. As an EMT with no experience, you aren't going to have any choice in where you work. Chances are you won't even work in 1 area, but wherever open shifts develop on whatever day/night shift opens up. That's part of being low man/woman on the totem pole. 3. It's just another minimum wage job, it will be a basic interview, possibly a test, and most likely a lift test. 4. BS questions such as where do you see yourself in 5 years, why do you think you'd be an asset to the company.. etc.
