What does the division sign mean on a prescription? I noticed on my handwritten prescription, there was a sign similar to a division sign. I heard that it is actually a circle over a line, with a number underneath. how exactly does this work?? can any number be written below? is it how many pills you are supposed to take per day?? or what?/ I am so confused

Answer:
The division sign on a prescription means "per". It will tell the pharmacist how many pills you are to take "per" day.
