Can you put a tracfone sim card in an unlocked phone?

  • I am looking at buying an unlocked phone off of Amazon to use with a Simple Mobile SIM card. I plan on buying a Nexus S, which the GSM mobile on T-Mobile obviously uses a SIM card. Most sellers of this phone offer it already Unlocked. My questions is do they unlock to a certain carrier, say Tracfone, would I have to use that service that they unlock it to, or would I able to use it with whatever SIM card I put in. Basically I want to know if once it's unlocked, can you use it with any working SIM card you put in it? Sorry if this seems like a silly question, but I have always bought locked phones on carriers before this. Thanks for the help!!!

Once unlocked, you can use any SIM in the phone. There's nothing with unlocking to a particular carrier, unlock enables your phone to work on other carriers. Some times it is very difficult to unlock a GSM phone. There are a lots of website which offers you to unlock your GSM phone. You can find them by searching on google or yahoo or some other your favorite search engine. I have find one for unlock GSM phones. But don't know how much it will helpful for you. Thanking you.

If it is truly unlocked it should work on any phone provider that has a sim card or sometimes you might have to cut the sim card to fit like a micro sim card.

There is no selective unlocking as far as i know. Just to be safe ask the seller your question & make sure you mark a copy to the folks at Amazon.
