How do I go about opening my own in home daycare?

Can I open an in-home daycare if I rent?

  • I live in Michigan and have been speaking with me mom about opening a daycare in my home that I rent. I am currently a CNA and am first aid and cpr certified but unfortunately alot of skilled nursing care facilities around here arent doing so good and my work is talking layoffs and have cut hrs down to almost nothing so this is my reason for trying something new. But im not sure if im allowed to rent and start a home daycare. The house is a pretty big size with fenced in yard and was completly remodeled a couole yrs ago so in pretty sure all things will check out with it. And if anyone has any advice or tips about how to go about starting please let me know cause this would also give me more time with my 3 kids as well!! Thanks!!

  • Answer:

That would be really up to your landlord but in all honestly I won't want a renter running a day care where my property would get damaged and i'm pretty sure there is a lot of liability the landlord could be in for so I doubt you'd be allowed
