Teens, doesn't it seem that most (not all) of the smart kids at your school DON'T listen to pop music?

I'm one of the top five in my school of 1800... I listen to pop music. So do 3 of the 4 people who are cleverer than me... so I can't really agree here.

Nope. I get straight A's in all my subjects. I'm currently ranked no.1 in English, Biology and previously Physics and Chemistry. And I listen to pop music.

No, not always. I am in T.A.G (talented and gifted), and some of us are super smart in school, and don't listen to music at all. Some of us are super strong athlete's, and they listen to pop music. But if you are like me, gifted in the category of music, you listen to everything. But it is true. Lots of kids in my program do choose rock over pop. I know i do. I do not think rock makes you any smarter than pop, but rock has a catchy beat that tends to hook us all. (no offense taken)

I'm considered smart at my school and I listen to pop music. I'm aware that it's not deep or intellectual, I just think it's catchy. I don't think rock makes you smarter...there are a lot of idiots who listen to it.

Mmm... not at my school. Or at least all the smart people's music preferences I know are teenage girls who like pop music.

Well, I'd say I'm a bit smarter than the majority of my grade, but I'm no genius. I listen to almost every genre of music - from today's pop, classic rock, alternative, classical, folk, country... the list goes on. So no, I'd say it's not really a fact :P

I'm in AP classes and I listen to rock :)

I think we would need inputs from at least a few hundred smart and dumb people to come to that conclusion, otherwise, I would just call it a coincidence in your experience. I for one know both smart and dumb people who listen to both genres, but the very smartest people I know write and play their own music, and it is neither pop nor rock.
