Is Kenya safe enough to travel to this summer?

Bursary funding / travel grants in the UK?

  • I'm 16 years old and have just been selected by my school to go on a 3 week trip to Kenya (Summer 2013). I would work at a newly established charity, undertaking projects that include: - helping with building greenhouses and working on garden plots to help with food production - teaching basic computing skills to older students - helping in primary schools - visiting foster families & local villages - helping with distribution of basic medical support - teaching music / singing and English - turtle conservation I really need financial support to be able to go and help at the charity, and I was wondering if anyone knew of any travel grants (UK based) that I could write to? I'm under 18 so I'm worried that I might not be old enough for some of the funding that gap year students receive... does anyone have any advice? Thank you very much.

If your school selected you then certainly they can also create a fund raiser event. Have the parents of fellow students donate articles to be sold on auction, hold a bake sale and raffle tickets to some olympic events.
