I cant join my friends Minecraft server?

i have been able to join mc server's 4 the update but now tht i updated i cant join. he's using no-ip i have join b4 the servers with no ip but now i cant i dont know what the problem is i even cleared all mc file/info (e.g. bin folder, minecraft .rar) i did make a backup cuz of my worlds and mc server list. i can join any others but his............... :(

Answer:
It's because you updated so you have a new version of minecraft that isn't compatible with the older one. Either he'll have to upgrade the server or you'll have to downgrade back to the older version, sorry!
