What is birds nest?

If i found a birds nest with 2 baby birds and they have no mother, what do i feed them to keep them alive?

• the birds nest was found in a hanging flower basket, the birds are grey and im not sure what type of birds they are, Its in england so its not a type of tropical bird. someone help i want them to survive :) thanks

  Becky; That sounds suspiciously like Spotted Flycatcher. Suspiciously early though. Perhaps yours arrived earlier than mine? And ye want them to survive? Fine. Walk Away. Ye last posted 22 hours ago. If the birds are still alive now, without your interference, that shows the parents are caring for them. Stay away and they'll continue to do so. If you've removed them from the nest and 'Made them a nest of straw. Put them in a cardboard box. Kept them warm. Fed them bread and worms. Took them to a vet / wildlife rehabber.' And all the other drivel we'll see suggested on here over the coming months, time and again? Please at least now be mature enough to come back here and admit they've died. And they'd have died because you thought you could do better than nature. Not wishing to sound harsh. But, I deal with birds nests and young on a daily basis. But, I'm trained to recognise the parameters. I know which birds will desert. What times they leave their young. When it's still safe to approach the nest. So on. And it breaks my heart to read this annual litany of " I've found a baby bird. How can I look after it? " Knowing 99.9% are doomed the moment 'people' get involved.
