How can you improve on the distance you run?

Is 3 months enough to train for a 10 mile run?

  • In the Sainsbury's store where I work, there is an organized 10 mile walk for a local charity at the end of August. I was contemplating attempting to run the 'walk' and raise that bit more money individually. The walk includes a steep 1 mile section called the 'killer mile'. I'm 19, have never been much of a runner and can only run for about 15 mins at max and thats if I really push myself! So yeah im not in the best shape but am already in the process of getting fit through weights and intense cardio (the Insanity workout programme to be precise). So how much can I realistically improve in 3 months? I don't need to be able to do the full 10 miles but a good percentage of it would be great. Also any tips would be great, like I said im fairly new to long distance running.

  • Answer:

You wanna work on ur upper body as it will help u maintain, but u wanna go out for runs for like 10 mins at a steady pace and increase by 5mins each day till u can do an easy hour. Make sure u get enough rest though
