How old do you have to be to audition for American Idol?

I wanna audition for American Idol but I won't be old enough till season 14?

I'm 13 and i love to sing I've watched idol forever and it seems like such a fun experience even if you don't make it to the finale. The only bad thing is I won't even be old enough to audition until season 14 cause I have a late birthday ( OCT 17th ) I considered Americas got talent but that's all talents and not just singing so its harder to get far on that by just singing. Do you think Idol will even be still in by then? & Is there any way I could be on a show like Idol before then that is just as good of an experience? Thanks !

I'm sure it will be around for 2 more seasons at least. or you can try X Factor for Season 3. (if it's still around but considering they have Demi and Britney this season i think the ratings will be good enough for a 3rd season) Their age limit is 12
