• Hello users of Yahoo Answers , I do Media GCSE and im currently retaking an exam . This Unit focuses on the Crime Drama genre and i recently received preliminary material The key points of the brief where as follows: . It must be suitable for families , and be pre watershed .It must bring a new twist to the genre , as many believe the genres easily identifiable characteristics have made it boring , e.g countryside crime dramas such as agatha christie and poirot. . It needs to appeal to a certain demographic ( Target Audience ) . Its characters shouldn't follow the crime drama archetype Please could anyone help me out with some ideas ? , i personally was thinking of a gritty gangster based crime drama , where a anti - hero detective wants to bring a drug ridden town to peace , but instantly recognized that that wouldn't be pre -watershed .   Prewatershed means programs before 9pm. without the swearing or nudity, not the mere fact that it's a gangster movie. Bugsy Malone was a perfect example of a movie for kids about gangster, so that itself shouldn't be an issue. Go with your gritty gangster crime drama with the anit - hero detective who wants to bring peace. Just make sure to avoid any harsh stuff like swearing, nudity or gruesome crimes.
